Tonight was the night for Archer’s first official solid food. Or I guess I should say, solid-ish. I definitely wouldn’t call that stuff solid. It was rice cereal mixed to the recommended 1:4 with milk. He had already had a small taste of tapioca, avocado, and ice cream but this was his first spoonful of anything but milk. He took to it pretty well and only made a small mess so we’re going to try it again tomorrow with a thicker mix.

Enjoy 🙂

My first tattoo is done. I had a bit of filler touch-up tonight so it’s finally complete. It’s kinda hard to tell from the picture but it’s on my inner right forearm.

We are pretty sure Archer has started teething. He suddenly loves to chew on EVERYTHING and it is often the only thing that will calm him down. He doesn’t mind if the fingers are his or yours; as long as they are being chewed the world is good.

Cyn found a Fisher Price Kick & Crawl Aquarium Playmat at the second-hand baby shop near work for super cheap. It has been a real lifesaver. Archer loves it. We’ve been letting him play in it for about 20 minutes at a time for the past week and we can already see a huge improvement in his hand-eye coordination. He is reaching and grabbing objects in front of him fairly consistently now.

Monday is the next doctor’s appointment which means another round of shots. I know he needs to be immunized but it kills us to hear him cry when he’s obviously in pain.

I’ve been pretty lazy lately and have not updated as much as I should. There are a bunch of new pictures in the gallery. (edit: The gallery feature is no longer supported by WordPress so it has been removed :(. )

At Archer’s last checkup (4 weeks) he was getting ready to pass the 11 pound mark. That means he gained OVER 2 OUNCES A DAY from week 2 to week 4. It’s looking like he’s going to be big fella!

Christmas was great but it wore us all completely out. Traveling with just a dog took a while to get used to but now it takes some real planning just to go away for the weekend. I think we packed about 90% of Archer’s stuff for his first trip to see his grandparents. It’s getting better but we still end up taking about twice as much as we need. And now, no matter how early we start to get ready to go, we are always at least fifteen minutes late. Why is that?

We had our first real smile about two weeks ago and now he is really starting to pour them on. The first few were kinda faint and far between but now if you catch him in the right mood you get a big smile and a coo :).

We were all able to come home together yesterday afternoon. The docs pushed up the release from Friday since all of Archer’s tests came back great. That first night was a tough one! Archer had some trouble getting used to the bedroom and didn’t sleep for more than about ninety minutes at a time. He is doing much better now and is going about three hours between feedings. Woohoo! Sleep!
